Sambal Goreng Tempe

Sambal Goreng Tempe

freshly prepared Sambal Goreng Tempe

Last week, I made this recipe. It was really great and it always reminds me of home. The kitchen smells as if I were in my hometown. Many people love tempe. Tempe originally comes from Indonesia and is made from fermented soybeans. It is a good meat substitute. It contains just as much protein as meat. Have fun with the Tempe recipe. I hope you enjoy the dish ;) Happy cooking!

- 1 block of tempeh (cut into small pieces)

- 1 lemongrass (crushed and divided into three parts)

- Thumb-sized piece of galangal (crushed)

- 1 teaspoon of raw sugar

- Salt to taste

- 2 tablespoons coconut milk

- 3 pepperoni (cut into thin slices)

- Approximately 100 ml of water

- Oil for frying

To puree:

- 1 red onion/shallot

- 4 cloves of garlic

- 3 hot peppers

Instructions:

Fry the tempeh until golden brown and then set aside.Puree the red onion/shallot, garlic and peppers with a hand blender. Set the mixture aside. Heat some oil in a pan. Fry the pureed ingredients in the hot oil for about 5 minutes. Add salt and sugar to the mixture and then add the remaining ingredients (lemongrass, daun salam leaves, lime leaves, galangal, coconut milk and hot pepper slices). Stir occasionally. Cook the mixture for about 5-7 minutes. Taste and season as desired.
